Rhodope stonehouse

By Mehandjiev-architects, 03.2018

On the Rhodope slopes, between Broad Laka and Gela lies the small hamlet Zaevite. Here more than 70 years were built a small family house, barn and byre, with then existing materials of stone and wood.

Nowadays we work on a project that seeks to save this house, creating a mountain retreat for a working professional, keeping the identity of the place, implementing unobtrusive contemporary comfort and style.

We started the project with a complete renovation of the damaged supporting structure of the roof, as well as creating links between the byre (the future kitchen) and the main building.

On the next phase of the project, the barn will become a separate house for guests, a place for reflection and solitude.
